Mum and daughter Team Sharron and Hannah Russell have joined forces to Help Support Rhinos, local entrepreneur Hannah Russell is best known to writing books about ‘Little Alf’ the famous miniature Shetland pony. Sharron Russell her mum is best known to painting ‘Quirky Cows’ and has a gallery in Leyburn Market town.
The Mum and daughter team decided to work together due to Hannah becoming an Ambassador for ‘Helping Rhinos’ the charity in January 2018. Sharron loved seeing the work her daughter was doing and wanted to get involved.
Hannah said ‘The link up seemed a natural thing to do, mum is great at painting and wanted to give Rhinos a go. After talking to Simon Jones Founder of Helping Rhinos he was thrilled with the idea’
The Rhino piece has now gone on sale and 100% of the proceeds will go to Helping Rhinos, the piece of art has already gathered a lot of interest worldwide.
Artist Sharron Russell said ‘I am hoping to raise as much as possible for the art work to help the charity, I really enjoyed painting the Rhinos and capturing there characters. I’m use to painting farm animals so painting the Rhinos was a great way to showcase my work further. Being an animal lover I’m proud to be supporting such a great charity and raising vital funds for Rhinos.’
Helping Rhinos is a UK and USA based charity working to save the Rhino from extinction through strategic partnerships and vital work in the field. On Average three Rhinos a day are still being killed my poachers in Africa, sometimes as many as 12 Rhinos have been killed in a single 24hour period.
Helping Rhinos is leasing an innovative approach to conservation that will ensure the long term survival of Rhinos and other endangered wildlife in their natural habitat.
